The Governors have statutory duties, as follows :
To ensure the delivery of the National Curriculum. The Governors are involved in the monitoring of the curriculum, overseen by the Curriculum and Standards Committee.
To oversee the annual budget. Through the Finance Committee the Governing Body controls and monitors the expenditure of the school. Day to day decisions are delegated to the Headteacher.
To be kept informed on all aspects of the day-to-day running and organisation of the school.
To take decisions on the appropriate levels of staff and to make appointments, where necessary.
To inspect the condition and repair of the school premises.
Mrs Lis Hughes is our Vice Chair and is on the Curriculum and Standards Committee. She is a Foundation Governor which means she represents the Church. She used to be a nurse in Birmingham and has 10 grandchildren so life is extremely busy! She regularly attends Collective Worships and Achievement Assemblies.
Mrs Alex Williams is a Parent Governor and is Chair of the Curriculum and Standards Committee. This committee monitors the way in which curriculum is taught across the school ensuring that all pupils make the best academic progress they can. She has lived in Cleeve Prior for 9 years.
Dr Mike Heelis is also a Parent Governor and is Chair of the Finance Committee. The role of this committee is to make sure the money the school is given from the public purse is spent appropriately at the school.
Mrs Rosemary Perl is a Co-Opted Governor and is a member of the Curriculum and Standards Committee. She is now retired but has taught in primary schools for 25+ years in Birmingham and her main interest is therefore early years and Key Stage 1, particularly Literacy. She has been a Governor for 3 years and comes into school on a Tuesday morning to listen to the children read.
